Who is James Prather?
how I got here
Learning how to crawl before you walk. run.
If I could describe myself in one sentence it would be “Too ambitious for my own good.” Because of this, I struggled as a young teen and into adulthood with balancing my passions with my careers.
I’m sure most of you can relate to the love-hate relationship of a steady job. My first jobs as a teen and 20-something were in customer service—mall associate and CSR for AOL (R.I.P.). I loved helping people, but hated the monotony and bad pay.
Eventually, I juggled school and dead-end jobs to the point where I needed to try something completely different. That was when I took a stab as a writer and started work on Fiverr. I built my own business from the ground up. For almost two years, I maintained a dominant top-5 ranking and 99% customer satisfaction rating.
I knew I was onto something. Unfortunately, with all the success on Fiverr, I didn’t allow myself to plan for future growth. I went on to work at The Hoth, which meant easier work, but I still lacked my own Byline.
I couldn’t tell you how many Fortune 500 companies that I’ve ghostwritten for, who’ve probably received work at 1/4th the price.
My story isn’t one of missed opportunities, only growth. I’m still young in my 30s, humble, and ready to take my career to the next level.
If you’ve read this entire bio, then we might technically be friends right now. I don’t make the rules, but I can make us friendship bracelets.
